Saxy Santas is an annual tradition of Midwest saxophonists to celebrate the holiday season by sharing beautiful music performed in the saxophone choir setting.  Musicians of all ages and skill levels are invited to come join the fun.

The goals of the Saxy Santas event are:

  • To entertain the public and enhance the holiday atmosphere in central Indiana
  • To promote public awareness and appreciation of the saxophone
  • To provide a unique educational opportunity, especially for area students
  • To create an opportunity for area saxophonists to meet with their colleagues in an atmosphere of friendship and fun.

Is this event only for central Indiana saxophone players?

No.  All saxophone players are welcome.  We expect participants from Fort Wayne, Toledo, South Bend, Terre Haute, Chicago, and Louisville.

What if I am a beginner?

Some of the music we perform is within the reach of beginners.  Some is more challenging, but you can learn a lot by sitting next to a more advanced player.  Most years about half the participants are school-aged students.  Advanced musicians look upon this as a brotherhood (or sisterhood) and are eager to share tips and techniques with less advanced players.

Is there a participation fee?

There are no participation fees.  We welcome donations to help us cover the costs of this program and the many other educational activities of the Phillips Music Guild.  To support our efforts, please click here.

How long has Saxy Santas been going on?

The first Saxy Santas event was held in 2012 and has been presented annually since then.  We look forward to helping other communities develop Saxy Santas events in their areas.  To get other Saxy Santas events started, please use our Contact Us form.
